Gearing up for the Gold Coast Marathon ⌛

Gearing up for the Gold Coast Marathon ⌛

RUNLY NEWSLETTER #115
Thur June 19th 2025

It's fair to say that these last two weeks have been right up there for me as the busiest since I started Runly.

There have been many days like today, where I have been running around like a headless chook (or running around like crazy, for our international friends).

I'm the sort of person who likes to have a handful of quality, important things to do each day.

Rather than have one million, tiny, small tasks, that take up a lot of time, and don't feel like they mean much.

But, some days, that's just what happens.

Yesterday, I left home at 5am for a quick work trip to Sydney, and back late at night, pushing even more things onto the list for today and tomorrow.

Throw in a 7-week old at home, and it's busy times.

But you don't want to hear about how long my to do list is, you want the good stuff. Like what's happening behind the scenes at Runly.

And the truth is, much of my current workload is geared towards getting ready for the Gold Coast Marathon.

In the last 18 months we've activated at so many events.

But none like this.

We've never been part of an indoor expo, and we've never been to an event outside of Victoria.

In many ways, indoor expos are easier. You don't have to deal with the weather, you've got a pre-planned spot on the floor map, and you know the dimensions down to the mm.

But equally, it's a logistical nightmare.

There is little room for error in a true-expo format. We've got to have our booth design nailed down, displays erected, the right amount of product, and don't forget signage.

The problem is, we've got to get everything up there.

Previously, we've driven everything around. Not this time.

Co-ordinating couriers, planning exact shipment weights, and having everything delivered up within a strict 8-hour timeframe is extremely challenging.

Almost every day this month has had some kind of planning or execution for Gold Coast

I can only hope that we hold our own up there at the Runner's Expo, amongst some giant international running brands. Hopefully we can do you proud 🥹

If you're heading to Gold Coast, make sure you drop in and say hello!

📍 Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre:
Thursday July 3rd 10am - 7pm
Friday July 4th 8am - 7pm
Saturday July 5th 10am - 4pm

Because this is our first indoor expo, we've had to invest in some appropriate equipment.

Last weekend we were testing out the new frame, and a gust of wind came through and knocked down our half-finished frame, twisting two of the main clamps.

They're completely busted.

So we've ordered some replacement parts and we're pushing to get them in time. takes deep breath.

All I can hope is that it will all work out. I couldn't be more excited to get up there and take it all in, to meet so many of you and check out all the great running & sports brands on show!

That's all for this week.
Thanks for your support as always.

Robbie.
