Founder update #102
Hey guys,
You may have noticed that for almost all of these weekly founder updates, I include a customer photo as the feature image.
Now let me tell you, I spend wayyy too long scrolling through our tagged photos on the @runly.athletics Instagram.
I love it.
Seeing a community of runners wearing our vests proudly gives me all the feels, still.
This photo is of Kris (kris_goes_running), who's been supporting Runly since Day 1. In this snap he's rocking the latest Hybrid Pro - Forest Black.
Which mind you - IS NOW SOLD OUT!
Maybe we didn't order enough for this epic release, or maybe they were just super popular 🤷
Being a limited release, it was never going to hang around forever. But now that it is sold out, we've been getting a bunch of questions about when it's coming back.
Because of the limited nature, we didn't have any backorders in the works, but we've now committed to bringing it back due to popular demand.
However, it's probably still a couple of months away yet.
In exciting news, last week we received what I think is (I'm pretty sure at least) our biggest order yet.
It is exciting, and also daunting.
After playing catch up for the last couple of months and running mostly on pre-order, it's a nice change of pace to see the warehouse shelves nice and full (and organised).
The R700 in both Black and Pink are fully stocked in all sizes. The Hybrid Pro in Grey/Black is fully stocked in all sizes too.
🏃 Event Update
It was so good to be back at a grassroots event last Sunday morning. We made the 4am drive out to Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula for the Flinders Running Fest.
As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, this was our first ever event, just this time last year.
Every event we went to last year was completely new for us. So to go back to a race we had already done prior, was in a weird way, really comforting.
We knew where to go, where to setup and what to expect.
Not to mention the familar faces, the great community and frankly an excellent standard of running for a grassroots event.
Now, I always like to leave our activation and check out the start of the race.
At the front of the field were some very fit looking runners, as there always is, of course.
But one of the female runners near the front got my attention. She looked like a pro. She was so relaxed, clearly very comfortable but at the same time looked like she was ready to rumble.
As the gun went off she flew to the front, whilst simultanenously waving to her son cheering her on from behind the fence.
It wasn't until later that I realised it was Gemma Maini. Running royalty. A local legend. 2023 Melbourne Marathon winner. We're talking a marathon PB of 2:35.
It was a treat to be able to watch her, even briefly, glide across the course and take the win (by some margin).
Not only that, she oozed humility after the race, encouraging others, waiting around for the presentation, getting involved in the community spirit.
You love to see it. This is what community races are all about. It's the combination of admiring some seriously impressive runners, creating an inclusive environment for everyone to give it their best, whilst embracing the community spirit.
This week we're headed down the other side of the coast to the Geelong River Run. We'll be activating there from 6am - 9.30am on Sunday morning. We'll have a full range of vests to check out + heaps of running socks available.
That's all for this week.
Run well,
Robbie
