Wellness Run, New Competition & Sale Update
Hey guys!
It's been a weird and wonderful week.
As you would know, we've run our Black Friday sale for the last week or two. It's been hectic.
Honestly, I didn't anticipate there would be as much demand as there has been.
It's been wild. So a big thank-you for supporting our Aussie small business.
We're actually now sold out of two sizes in two of our major products. They were meant to last until at least the end of the year. Woops.
Not ideal.
But good problems to have, as they say.
Many have been asking if we'll be doing a pre-order of those sold out sizes and the answer is yes, which will likely start in the next week or so!
We're in the final hours now of the sale, so if you're keen, you can still grab an incredible deal here.
👉 NEW COMPETITION
It was always going to happen, wasn't it.
After doing this for over three years now, and especially this year getting our name out more than ever, we're starting to see a bunch of competitors pop up.
There's a couple of different kinds popping up.
The first one is really cheap, knock-off designs without any sort of branding nor research gone into the product.
Many of you have sent me screenshots via DM's and emails of these brands, some are just a complete rip-off of our products.
I think their aim is probably to just undercut. You do see some of these products being worn at events, and I'm not mad about it.
Especially for beginners, if they don't want to spend much money and they just need something for one event, sure, maybe that's a good option for them.
The more people we can get out running, into run clubs and participating at events is a great thing.
Then you've got established brands trying to capitalise on running. As runners, you've probably seen a bunch of brands in the last 12 months try and get in on the running trend.
They reinvent their existing products and add 'running' somewhere in it to try and reach a new market.
Fashion brands creating 'brand name Running Club' etc
But this one probably takes the cake.
A prominent fashion brand has started releasing their 'prototype vest' only to runners on Instagram to promote, to create some buzz.
It's kinda' really smart.
I think a lot of people will buy it, because of the brand name.
But in the same vein, it shouldn't be underestimated how much research, development, iteration and design work goes into creating a running vest.
After all, you're investing in a piece of performance equipment you might be relying on when you're out of breath, dehydrated and climbing up a mountain.
It's not something to take lightly.
But overall, I welcome competition. I think for me personally, it's really good validation that what we've created together over the last few years is having an impact.
👉 2XU WELLNESS RUN
This weekend we're heading to St Kilda in Melbourne for the 2XU Wellness Run! At this stage it's looking like awful weather, but that won't stop us.
It's one of the larger events on the Melbourne calendar, with almost 15,000 runners expected to hit the starting line on Sunday.
We'll be there 10am - 2pm on Saturday for bib pick-up and 6am - 12pm on Sunday for race day.
If you're heading down, pop in and say hello! We'll have our full range to see, touch and try on.
That's all for this week.
Run well,
Robbie
