Confirmed: Runly At Melbourne Marathon 2024!
In exciting news, Runly will be activating at the 2024 Melbourne Marathon!
One of our most popular blog posts of this year has been our guide to the Melbourne Marathon - Everything You Need To Know.
If you read my weekly founder newsletter, you'd know that I have been sweating on whether or not we were going to get the call up to activate at the Melbourne Marathon this year.
And if you're not subscribed, you bloody well should be! (scroll to the bottom of this page for a signup box).
We were told we'd find out last Friday.
Luckily, Friday was such a busy day for me. It was a hundred miles an hour with different meetings, warehouse stuff, and checking off new samples.
To be honest, I had totally forgotten about it.
It got to just before 6pm and I finally crashed.
My phone pings.
It's an email:
I couldn't believe it.
We attended our first in-person event around 7 months ago. There were 200 people at the event.
Now, we're attending one of Australia's biggest events with probably around 60,000 people in attendance.
That is so wild.
Now, it's about putting it altogether.
We're going to be a part of the Melbourne Marathon expo, alongside a number of other running and sports brand.
It's going to be absolutely vibing.
Usually when we go to events, we bring absolutely everything with us. You know - a marquee, displays, stock and all the rest of it.
This event will be a little different.
We don't supply the marquee.
We'll be using the supplied marquees from the Melbourne Marathon organisers. Sometimes events implement this to ensure safety standards and that equipment is up to scratch.
What we're trying to work out now is how we can effectively brand our space without being able to have signage on the outside.
All of our branding, stock and displays need to be within the 4 walls of the marquee.
So now the planning begins.
Luckily, I have been planning in the hope that we would get the call up for this event.
For anyone who works in or around events, you know these things take months and months to plan out.
In the background I've designed and produced new stock displays which look really awesome!
Our first test of the new displays will be on show at the Peaks & Trails event in Dunkeld.
This is a great opportunity for us to start testing our displays and how we're going to work within the confines of a 3x3 space.
Aside from that, we need to start ticking off very boring things like logistics - how we're going to get stock to the venue, how we're going to replenish stock each day (it's a 4-day event), how many people do we need there, the best way to accept payments etc.
There's a lot that goes into it.
But I couldn't be more excited for us and to take part in this iconic running event. One of the biggest events in the Australian calendar.
If you're heading to the Melbourne Marathon this year, make sure you come check us out and say hello!
Run well,
Robbie
